The Misfits' canonical skull graphic was lifted from the 1946 television serial, The Crimson Ghost, while the typeface is from the 1950s-'60s magazine, Famous Monsters of Filmland.


Shepard Fairey used The Misfits logo as the basis for his 2005 work Obey Fiend Skull, blending the logo with the original Andre face much like 1997's Che and 2000's Marilyn Warhol.
