I've got a Banksy Bomb Middle England A/P which is numbered, but it's 23/31. Which is a different print run from the regular numbered run of 500.

I've never seen a numbered A/P from the regular batch.

The seller obviously has a lot of good Obey prints and seems straight up, but what it *looks* like is someone has just added A/P next to the number.

Incidentally these listings don't show up on my Obey ebay search.

Any idea why?

Maybe it's because I'm a foreign.

The official run size on that print is 350 and not 100 so the AP couldn't have just been added later to one of those. 100 APs ? Total run size 450 ???

I have seen it once before. It was a different print but was also on ebay. I have detailed pics somewhere.

My guess is that a separate run of 100 each of this series was done (maybe then given away as gifts for example) and labeled as AP so as to keep it separate from the other run of 350 ? I believe that around Christmas time everyyear 100 prints go out to friends, business partners, etc. as gifts so maybe this was the holiday gift in 03.

I remember when these sold out, there were a ton of "Nixon Money" prints
for sale on ebay numbered like this. I think it was out of 150 A/Ps. I never understood it either.

The AP's for this series were of 10....not 100. Straight from Shepard's mouth.

The plot thickens...from the seller of the items:

I bought these directly from a guy who said he was close to
Shepard. He had several rare prints and needed money quickly. I
can assure you, they are real prints.

About the numbering, I thought that was a little strange. He said
they were a lot of imperfect prints (you can see the blue ink on
the side) and they were turned into an AP edition (like so many
artists do).

As far as there being 10 numbered AP prints, I would have to see
it to believe it. All the other AP prints that I own are not
numbered but I also bought these several years ago shortly after
they first came out so there was no real cash incentive to create
copies or AP editions.

here's the deal...

I know there's some controversy surrounding these prints so let me give you what I know and you guys can draw your own conclusions.

As I said in the previous post, I bought them from a guy who needed the money, desperately. When I first contacted him through a friend, he didn't even tell me they were AP editions. He just said he had a Lenin, Mao, and Nixon for sale along with a few others. Those three were the best he had so I bought them. When I asked him about the AP edition he thought that there were a lot of imperfect prints from both printings so they made them APs. As someone who collects a lot of art, this is not uncommon.

I really didn't think there was going to be any controversy when I listed them but with everything I sell, I took pictures of the art (close ups I might add) so people can see what they are actually getting versus lifting an image off the 'net and saying it's an AP.

Now someone would impress me with their knowledge of Shepard Fairey if they could tell me the story behind Dis Obey. Too often I see people misleading others so they can get a better deal.

Well, I didn't sign them and I didn't number them, but I stand by my statement. When these sold out in 2003/4 I remember at least a dozen of the "Nixon Money" prints from different sellers with numbering like this turning up on Ebay. I remember because I was annoyed. I wanted one of the 150 A/Ps.
