Anticipation: ANGEL OF HOPE & STRENGTH

Post by submethod »

Image

I created this art piece, “Angel of Hope and Strength,” to celebrate the courage of healthcare workers, and generally symbolize the spirit of hope, strength, compassion, and resilience that we can all find in ourselves and share collectively. I created this art first in conjunction with Rhode Island’s Governor, Gina Raimondo’s project for RIArts.org, and then also launched globally with Amplifier. Now I’m releasing this art as a print on my site: store.obeygiant.com tomorrow, May 7th at 10AM PST! Proceeds from this print will benefit Direct Relief and The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. Direct Relief is a humanitarian aid organization, active in all 50 states and more than 80 countries, with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies. The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA), in cooperation with the Rhode Island Foundation and the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism, is launching a fund to help Rhode Island artists who have lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund is managed by the Alliance of Artists Communities in Providence. It’s a tough time for everyone right now, but we will all fare better if we summon the better angels of our nature. As always, thanks for caring. -Shepard

Angel of Hope & Strength. 18 x 24 inches. Screen print on Cream Speckle Tone paper. Signed by Shepard Fairey. Numbered edition of 550. $70. Proceeds go to Direct Relief and RISCA. Available on Thursday, May 7th @ 10 AM PST at https://store.obeygiant.com/collections/prints. So i think the CAPTCHA must be helping vs the bots? The print hung out for less than a minute this time. EIther that or the print is not in demand?

I sucked it up and picked up American Rage today on the secondary market. A friend helped me out on it though. Lotus Angel has dried up on eBay....last one sold for $400. Maybe people are going stir crazy inside and are taking it out on Obey eBay auctions.

You can download and print this over on amplifier. They also have a poster pack with it for sale. Can get the image for $50 there.

I find it interesting how these last 3 prints are at a premium price so quickly given the economy has gone to sh$t.

Oddly, it seems like that's happening on a lot of ebay stuff I follow lately.

It is a strange way of how the art economy is going. Are original pieces going higher? I would think that in times like these, people are looking to move product at basement prices to make ends meet. Shepard's work has always clicked higher but these margins are exceptionally high.
