From Obeygiant.com:

Classical: Of or relating to ancient Greek or Latin literature, art, or culture. This print is a play on my love of music, drawing a comparison between the notions of “classical” art, architecture, and music, and “classic” music… rock, punk, hip-hop etc… I find it funny that things that are considered “classic” now were once new and possibly controversial. I like to put my favorite musical trailblazers on a pedestal and I’d make the argument that in the future the Clash and Public Enemy will be seen as equally “classic” to Mozart and Beethoven. The discus thrower with a record was an easy visual pun to make the statement. The Diskobolus of Myron (“discus thrower”) is a Greek sculpture that was completed circa 460-450 BC. The original Greek bronze is lost but the work is known through numerous Roman copies, both full-scale ones in marble, or smaller scaled versions in bronze. A discus thrower is depicted about to release his throw: Critics have stated that the moment captured in the statue is an example of rhythm, harmony and balance. Art and music both demonstrate rhythm, harmony and balance when they are at their best.
